Biography
Narendra Yadav Demonstrated success in biotechnology, including two once-in-a-lifetime breakthroughs: 1) Discovered omega 6 desaturase gene that led to the biotech soybean oil Plenish® benefitting farmers (anticipated to be the 4th largest U.S. row crop by 2023), the food industry, and consumers with its zero trans fat oil (“In a Bean, a Boon to Biotechâ€, New York Times, Nov 15, 2013).2) Engineered yeast into the richest source of omega-3 fatty acids, described by Nature Biotechnology as a ‘metabolic-engineering tour de force’. Its use in VerlassoTM salmon replaced 75% of the wild-caught fish needed in aquaculture to earn the distinction of “better alternative†by Seafood Watch. Inventor on 63 granted patents.  Author on 23 peer-reviewed papers in high impact journals.  Successful metabolic engineering of one plant and two microbes from start to finish and all worked!  Genetically engineered both central and secondary metabolic pathways in plants and microbes.  Genome editing in plants and microbes as well as in their organelles (mitochondria and chloroplasts).  Demonstrated expertise in bioinformatics, gene discovery, cutting edge DNA assembly.  high throughput, automated microbe engineering using Benchling platform and robots, such as Mantis, Bravo, Guava, Tecan, and Fragment Analyzer.
