Biography
Bo Peng has his expertise in metabolic regulation of antibiotic resistance. His research focuses on the elucidation of the metabolic features antibiotic-resistant bacteria He proposed that antibiotic-resistant bacteria have their metabolomes, naming antibiotic-resistance metabolome (ARM). The crucial biomarkers identified from ARM could reverts the ARM to antibiotic-sensitive metabolome (ASM), which increase the killing efficacy of antibiotics to multidrug-resistant bacteria, biofilm-forming bacteria and persisters (Peng et al, Cell metabolism, 2015). This strategy is also applicable to enhance host immune response to infections through metabolic regulations. Thus, this approach provides a novel strategy to fight against antibiotic-resistant bacteria in a greener but efficient way.
